Neighborhood Traffic Calming Partnership

Goals

Parker's Police and Engineering/Public Works Departments receive many reports of speeding in residential neighborhoods and the associated concerns about safety. To have a consistent response to speeding issues, a Neighborhood Traffic Calming Partnership (NTCP) has been established. The NTCP has several goals including:

  • Enhance neighborhood safety for all street users including pedestrians, cyclists, and drivers through compliance with posted speed limits and other traffic control devices; the program goal is not to force vehicles to travel slower than the posted speed limits or to stop unnecessarily.
  • Implement traffic calming methods that enhance public safety while maintaining safe emergency vehicle response times and other public vehicle access.
  • Educate Parker's citizens about traffic safety problems occurring in their neighborhoods and how they can help be part of the solution.
