Parker's Police and Engineering/Public Works Departments receive many reports of speeding in residential neighborhoods and the associated concerns about safety. To have a consistent response to speeding issues, a Neighborhood Traffic Calming Partnership (NTCP) has been established. The NTCP has several goals including:
Enhance neighborhood safety for all street users including pedestrians, cyclists, and drivers through compliance with posted speed limits and other traffic control devices; the program goal is not to force vehicles to travel slower than the posted speed limits or to stop unnecessarily.
Implement traffic calming methods that enhance public safety while maintaining safe emergency vehicle response times and other public vehicle access.
Educate Parker's citizens about traffic safety problems occurring in their neighborhoods and how they can help be part of the solution.
