On Feb. 25 at 10 a.m., officials will celebrate the official ground breaking for the 125,000-square-foot King Soopers MarketPlace in Parker. The new store, opening in late fall 2015, will anchor the Center, located at 17761 Cottonwood Drive in Parker.
“Over the last 10 years, the growth in Parker has positioned us well to attract businesses here with confidence,” said Mayor Mike Waid. “Having a grocery store back in Cottonwood has been a top priority for the Town and today’s event addresses a need for our residents. It also will help foster a sense of community, as well as complementary development.”
The MarketPlace offers a one-stop shopping location that meets the needs of today’s busy, health-conscious shopper. Traditional grocery offerings have been expanded to feature locally-grown produce; chef-prepared meals; specialty food bars such as sushi, cheese, chicken wings and soup; and more than 5,000 natural and organic items. The MarketPlace will also sell quality general merchandise, including apparel, dinnerware, small appliances and more.
“We are excited to once again be serving the residents in the Cottonwood area with a new concept store and the partnership with the Town was critical to our decision to locate here, as a Colorado company we are very excited about serving this community as a solution for much of what their family needs” said Russ Dispense, President of King Soopers.
King Soopers estimates that at least 300 construction jobs will be created through Colorado contractor Roche Construction and their subcontractors. When the store opens next fall, 250 newly-hired employees will serve residents throughout the Town and region.
