[ARCHIVED] Snow Operations Update - March 14

Snow Plow

The Town of Parker would like to thank our residents and travelers for their patience while we continue to work clearing our roadways following the last two days of inclement weather.

It’s been a very challenging 24 hours for our snow operations. The strong winds experienced the last two days have made things extremely difficult for our snow plows due to the drifts and wet/heavy snow. We had several plow trucks get stuck overnight Wednesday, including a couple of breakdowns. Conditions were so bad that CDOT closed Parker Road (SH83) due to the snow and poor visibility.

We’ve had heavy plows deployed since Wednesday morning working around the clock and made significant progress last night. As of 6 a.m. Thursday, we’ve also deployed pickup plows to start working on the residential local streets. Due to the drifting and wet/heavy snow, the pick-up plows will have some difficulty navigating the streets. To assist in this effort, we have also deployed loaders/back hoes to start removing wind rows and significant drifts at the entrances/intersections of subdivisions.

We're very proud of our operators who have been working 12 hour shifts and enduring treacherous conditions. We had a few staff that couldn’t make it home last night and slept (more like napped) at our Public Works Operations Center.  Hopefully, they will be able to get home this evening and get some well-deserved sleep!
