Town
of Parker and City of Lone Tree Intergovernmental Agreement
Background/Purpose:
The Local Governmental Land Use Control Enabling Act (C.R.S. §
29-20-101, et seq.) makes explicit the authority of local governments
to jointly plan and regulate land use.
The
Town of Parker and the City of Lone Tree entered into an Intergovernmental
Agreement (IGA) to allow for joint planning and to guide future
land use decisions in areas of mutual interest.
Term
and Effective Date:
The IGA, adopted on June 19, 2000, established
a term of 15 years.

- Annexation
boundaries for Parker and Lone Tree

A ‘buffer area’ between the two municipalities were
annexations will not occur without the approval of the other
jurisdiction

An agreement to cooperate in the planning, design, construction
and financing of any roadways necessary to mitigate traffic

Amendment: An amendment to the IGA was adopted on February 3,
2003. The amendment was to address a proposed annexation request
for land within the ‘buffer area’.
