Norton Trailhead Project Moves Forward

The Town of Parker is continuing to move forward with the proposed trailhead and open space amenities on the Norton Farms open space, located at the northwest corner of Parker Road and Valley Hi Drive.

The Norton Trailhead property was purchased as a collaborative effort between the Town of Parker, Douglas County, Arapahoe County, Douglas County Schools, Cottonwood Metropolitan District and a community resident.

The Norton Trailhead site is the northern gateway into the Parker community and Douglas County. The trailhead will be the centerpiece and primary access point to the Norton Farm open space parcel which consists of 76 acres and connects to hundreds of additional acres of open space that make up the Cherry Creek Greenway and Regional Trail.

The trailhead is planned to provide for a number of amenities such as:

  • Picnic shelter
  • Educational gazebo
  • Arboretum
  • Xeriscape gardens
  • Parking area
  • Trail access to the Cherry Creek Regional Trail

The trailhead will serve as a needed access point and rest stop along the Cherry Creek Regional Trail system where trail users can enjoy lunch and also learn about the ecology and history of the areas. Additionally, the trailhead will function as an outdoor classroom for school visits.

The trailhead improvements will be funded over the next few years.
