Boards and Commissions

Are you looking for a way to get involved in your community? Each year there are positions available on a variety of citizen commissions run by the Town of Parker. Please contact the appropriate department (listed below) to learn when openings occur or attend the meetings to learn more about each commission's activities.

Planning Commission
The Planning Commission, an advisory board appointed by the Town Council, provides recommendations to Council on land use and related development issues. Those with an interest in land use and development are encouraged to attend meetings or apply for this commission. Regular meetings are held the second and fourth Thursday of each month at 7 p.m. at Town Hall, 20120 E. Mainstreet. To be appointed, you must be a resident of Parker for at least one year and be a registered elector. If you are interested in becoming a part of this Commission, please contact the Community Development Department by email or at 303.841.2332.

Landmarks Commission
The Landmarks Commission members are responsible for matters of landmark recognition and designation. Meetings are held the third Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. at the Parker Mainstreet Center, 19650 E. Mainstreet. If you have experience or a demonstrated interest in history, archaeology or architecture, you are encouraged to attend meetings or apply for this commission. Members may be citizens of the Town of Parker or come from the Parker-area community. Cultural Commission
The Cultural Commission members assist with planning and implementing arts events and raising funds, as well as bringing our 10-year arts vision to life! They produce events such as the popular Concerts in the Park series and the Asian New Year Festival. Terms are two years long and meetings are held on the first Thursday of each month at 6:30 p.m. at the Mainstreet Center, 19650 E. Mainstreet. Special Licensing Authority
The Special Licensing Authority was created for the purpose of reviewing applications for and issuing beer and liquor licenses, amusement device and arcade licenses, cabaret licenses and sexually-oriented business licenses pursuant to applicable state statutes and Town codes. The Authority’s responsibilities include reviewing applications, holding hearings on applications, issuing decisions on applications for various licenses and advising the Town Council on licensing issues. Board of Appeals
The Board of Appeals is staffed by the Building Division. This board meets as needed for appeals to determine alternative materials and methods of construction, and to provide for reasonable interpretations of the technical codes. If you have knowledge of building construction and building service equipment, you are encouraged to apply as positions become available. Applicants must reside in incorporated Parker.
