Historic Preservation Commission

The Commission:
The Parker Landmarks Commission was established in 1998 in support of efforts to safeguard the Town’s historic and cultural heritage and to foster civic pride through education and creating awareness of the Town’s unique legacy.

Meetings:
The Commission meets the third Tuesdays of each month at 6:30pm. Meetings are held in the Mainstreet Center at 19650 E. Mainstreet.

Parker Landmarks:
Today, Parker’s history is celebrated through many recognized landmarks. Each of these structures and places provide insight into Parker’s rich heritage. The Commission continues to work towards landmarking the other important places as a part of the Town’s recorded history.

Historic Walking Tour Brochure:
This self-guided walking tour of historic downtown Parker, formally known as Pine Grove, provides the visitor with a historical overview of the community and detailed information including a photo and accompanying text of various historic structures and places throughout town. The tour includes eighteen stops that hold historic significance in Parker’s downtown. Additionally, seven other locations are highlighted outside the immediate vicinity that can be visited by a driving tour.


Historic Interpretive Signage:
Interpretive signs portraying historical sites were developed in recognition of Parker landmarks and points of historical interest. These interpretive signs can be found at numerous points throughout Town and along the historic walking tour.

  • Expanding community interest and appreciation of its cultural resources
  • Stimulating local preservation planning
  • Developing local interest and support for neighborhood and commercial revitalization
  • Qualifying a property to compete for grants and funding assistance
  • Property Eligibility for Nomination: The criteria established for the evaluation of sites and documentation standards required for recordation has been set by the Town Council and is adopted as Section 13.11.050 of the Land Development Code.
