Tallman/Newlin Cabin

History
William Newlin, who had come to the area in the 1860s, bought a 160-acre site east of Pine Grove (Parker) from John Tallman in 1878.

The cabin is generally believed to have been built by John Tallman. The log building was encased in a frame structure by William Newlin's grandson, Harry. Local legend has it that Harry's new bride refused to live in the cabin until Harry improved it. After the last Newlin died in the 1960's, the property was leased to various renters. It was sold to developers in the late 1970's.
In 1996 the Parker Area Historical Society undertook the task of moving and restoring the structure. Many donors gave in-kind services and money to complete this huge effort. The cabin was moved 14 May, 1997 to a new concrete foundation. The cabin is now on the Colorado State Register of Historic Places. It was deeded to the Parker Area Historical Society in 1996.

How to find it
From the intersection of Parker's Mainstreet and Parker Road (Colorado 83) drive east on Mainstreet for 2.15 miles to Canterberry Parkway; right (south) for 0.4 miles to Canterberry Trail; left for 0.4 miles to Callaway Road; left for 0.1 miles. The cabin is on the right.
