Trace Kaker steps from behind the scenes to serve on Council

Trace L. Kaker has served on the Parker Town Council since November 2002. Kaker joined the Parker Town Council to make a difference in her community. “I have long enjoyed politics, but I have always been behind the scenes,” said Kaker. But, with encouragement from her husband, as well as from former Town Councilmembers, Kaker decided to run for office. In being elected to Council, she emerged from behind the scenes and into the spotlight!

Kaker leads a busy life juggling her family, her work as a Business Law and Estate Planning Attorney, and her responsibilities as a Councilmember. In addition to these varied roles, Kaker also spends a significant amount of time serving on several other Town and community committees, including the Parker Economic Development Council, Parker Chamber of Commerce Government Relations, the Town Budget, Capital Projects, Downtown Taskforce and Downtown Streetscapes Committees.

Some of Kaker’s highest priorities on Council are improving Economic Development for the Town of Parker, as well as creating Recreational facilities that will benefit Parker residents. “While I am interested in economic development,” said Kaker, “I want the “right” kind of development. The “right” kind of development will give a balance to our Town and will allow us to have money coming in to pay for the things we want, without having the certain kinds of industry that this Town doesn’t want.” Kaker feels that these goals will help Parker maintain our small town feel.

“Parker residents should know that Council is trying to promote the development of retail establishments and business in the Town for things that we do not yet have,” commented Kaker. “We are also working on possible recreation and cultural facilities for our Town. And above all else, this council is very determined to proceed with integrity.”

The Clarke Farms subdivision in Parker has been home to Kaker and her husband Brad for eight and ½ years. They have three growing boys - Cody, Alexander and Jonathan. Kaker enjoys reading, going to watch her boys play sports and camping and hiking with her family.

Last, but definitely not least, Trace would like to thank her family for all of the time that she gives up with them to serve on Town Council.
