Trails
Parker's trail network
is the jewel of our outdoor amenities, allowing residents to walk,
skate, bike and even ride horses along the Cherry Creek Trail
and throughout our community.
Parks
We also have many parks
ranging from O'Brien Park in the downtown area to
the County's Challenger Regional Park adjacent to our Recreation
Center. A new youth baseball field sponsored by the Colorado
Rockies is open at Salisbury Equestrian Park and a new outdoor
pool facility opened at O'Brien Park in 2002. In the future, we'll
also be improving the traditional horse uses at Salisbury.
Open
Space
With the recent rapid growth of the area, one of our citizens'
top priorities has been the preservation of open
space. In 1999, the Town made our first large open
space purchase in partnership with Douglas County. The Norton
Property, located on the northern boundary of Parker on the west
side of Parker Road, is an important purchase as it will allow
us to continue the trail system northward and provide a buffer
between Parker and other communities to the north.
Since
then, the Town participated as a partner in the purchase of the
17-Mile property for open space. The Town also purchased the Country
Meadows open space, located along Cherry Creek, west of the Country
Meadows subdivision and north of Stroh Ranch.
The
Town recently purchased several additional open space parcels
along Parker Road, directly adjacent to the Norton Open Space
Property, to provide further open space amenities.
