The 2006 Parker Mainstreet Omnium and Expo will bring three days of men’s and women’s professional and amateur cycling races to Parker this fall from Sept. 15 to Sept. 17.
Parker’s third annual bike race gets bigger and better each year, and is making the leap from a large state race to a prestigious USA Cycling National Racing Calendar event for 2006. Teams like T-Mobile, Health Net presented by Maxxis, TIAA-CREF, Colavita-Sutter Home, Ford, Vitamin Cottage, CPT-Colnago, Toyota-United, Team Aarons, Jittery Joe’s, Tokyo Joe’s, KodakGallery.com/Sierra Nevada, Navigators Insurance, Recycled Cycles, Team Lipton and Jelly Belly will be sending their top riders for this end-of-the-season showdown. With over $60,000 in cash and prizes, the 2006 Parker Mainstreet Omnium is a “must-attend” event for racers and spectators alike!
The Parker Mainstreet Omnium begins with a Friday Time Trial, which pits the racers versus the clock in an all out 8-mile sprint. Saturday’s Road Race tests the endurance of the racers over a 42-105 mile course, depending on the race category. Sunday’s finale is the spectator-friendly showcase of the event, the JR Engineering Parker Mainstreet Criterium. The criterium is a fast-paced lap race that circles downtown Parker at speeds over 30 miles per hour. Don’t miss out on the action!
The Parker Mainstreet Omnium will also feature PeeWee races on the Criterium course on Sunday at 12:30 p.m. Registration is free. There will be two heats racing, the first with youth ages four to six and the second with youth ages seven to nine. Please be at the course at least 30 minutes before the start of the race to register. Helmets are required for all races.
A Sports and Cycling expo, RipStoke Mountain Bike trials show and a variety of family-friendly activities will take place throughout the weekend in downtown Parker at O’Brien Park and at The Canterberry Club.

The top teams and riders from around the country will be racing in and around Parker. The event will continue to run beginner to expert level categories so that riders of all experience levels can compete. In 2005, the Parker Mainstreet Criterium had the largest kids’ race in the state and organizers plan on making that element of the race even more prominent in 2006.
A cycling expo, BMX and motorcycle stunt demonstrations and a variety of family-friendly activities will take place throughout the weekend in downtown Parker at O’Brien Park.
A special thank you to our Event Sponsors for their support!
