Peddler/Solicitor License
By
ordinance, the Town of Parker requires all peddlers and solicitors
engaged in door-to-door sales to obtain a permit to conduct business
in Parker. The intent of this ordinance is to ensure that any
individual or business engaged in door-to-door sales have business
licenses. Anyone coming onto your property for the purpose of
door-to-door sales must register with the Town Clerk's office,
obtain a $35 license to conduct their business and pay sales tax
on those transactions.
The Ordinance also allows us to deny a license or permit to any
individual that has been charged with misrepresentation, fraud,
deception or breach of contract in Parker or in any municipality.
Anyone who has been convicted of felony crimes against people
or property or who has been institutionalized for mental illness
that caused acts of violence against people or property within
the past five years will not be issued a license. Violation of
the ordinance is a misdemeanor, and conviction carries a fine
of up to $300.
Those
exempt from the ordinance are people selling Girl Scout cookies,
those delivering newspapers, milk, bread, firewood, and farm produce;
anyone soliciting lawn or garden work and snow shoveling work;
and anyone whose activities are authorized by civic, religious,
charitable or political organizations.
