Autumn is in the air and a new season has officially arrived in Parker. Here’s five things we think you should know about the Town for the month ahead.
A best place to raise a family:
WalletHub ranked Parker fourth on its 2017 list of the best places to raise a family in Colorado. The results, released in September, used 21 key indicators related to family-friendliness to compare 60 municipalities from across the state. Parker came in fourth in the final standings, closely following Windsor, Castle Pines and Erie.
Farmer’s Market season ending soon:
Parker Farmer’s Market rounds out its 2017 season this month. The market, with its 70-plus weekly vendors, will be open from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Mainstreet Sundays through Oct. 29.
Trick-or-Treat on Mainstreet returns:
Happy haunts will once again take to Downtown Parker for Trick-or-Treat on Mainstreet from 3:30 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 31. Hosted by the Cherry Creek Valley Rotary Club of Parker, the event features Halloween fun and trick-or-treating with participation from Parker-area businesses and organizations.
Calendar photo contest concludes:
If you have not yet entered, the deadline to submit photographs for the Town’s 2018 Calendar Photo Contest is Tuesday, Oct. 31.
We are looking for striking images that depict life in Parker — anything from natural landscapes, wildlife, events, facilities, businesses, architecture or weather to people living, working, shopping or playing. Photos must be taken in the 80134 or 80138 zip codes. Winning photos will be included in the Town’s 2018 Calendar and Annual Report that will be published this December.
Monthly public meetings:
Parker Town Council will meet at 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 16 in the Council Chambers at Town Hall, 20120 E. Mainstreet. The Council will hold study sessions at 5:30 p.m. Mondays, Oct. 9 and 23 in the Pikes Peak Community Room at Town Hall.
