As the seasons change again, here are some of our picks for making the most of autumn in the Town of Parker.
Enjoy Happy Haunts: Get in the spirit with fun Halloween events. Fieldhouse Fright Night, organized by Parker Parks and Recreation, is a popular family-friendly event on Oct. 26 featuring Spook Skate, a haunted house, Rock’n Halloween at the Climbing Wall, a costume contest, arts and crafts and more.
Then, on Halloween, join the Cherry Creek Valley Rotary Club for Trick or Treat on Mainstreet with festivities at O’Brien Park and along Mainstreet.
Sip and/or Shop: Hosted by the Parker Area Chamber of Commerce, Downtown Parker Wine Walks occur the last Friday of September and October, and invite participants to visit with downtown merchants while sampling wine and enjoying delicious treats.
For more shopping, check out the Parker Farmer’s Market on Mainstreet from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sundays through the end of October.
Experience the Season’s Best: Enjoy the fall colors and temperate weather in the great outdoors at one of the community’s many public parks or trails.
Keep Active: Parker Parks and Recreation’s catalog of adult sports, youth sports, fitness classes, programs and camps offer something for everyone looking to break a sweat or take part in some friendly competition. And remember, the Parker Recreation Center’s indoor pool is open year-round!
Other opportunities to get out and about include the Turkey Day 5K FUN Run/Walk along with Parents’ Night Out and Saturday Skate Night events.
Be in the Audience: Attend a Parker Arts marquee event like 9 to 5: The Musical, Melissa Etheride, the Boulder Ballet, Colin Mochrie Presents HYPROV, Little Women, Friday Night Jazz, Comedy & Cocktails, and performances from Wonderbound and the Parker Symphony Orchestra. Tickets for these events and more (including the quickly approaching holiday season shows) can be purchased through the Parker Arts website.
Art galleries at the PACE Center and The Schoolhouse, and educational classes provide even more entertainment and enrichment opportunities.
Usher in the Holiday Season: Parker’s popular holiday lights are switched on during the Mayor’s Holiday Lighting Nov. 29, followed by the uniquely Parker Christmas Carriage Parade on Dec. 14. And while enjoying those events, complete your shopping list in Parker, too! Visit the online community business directory and the Choose Parker Campaign website to learn more about local shops, restaurants and entrepreneurs.
Get on the Ice: The Parker Ice Trail at Discovery Park opens for another season of skating Nov. 29. As one of a handful of ice trails across the country, this ice path meanders through the park, reminiscent of a frozen river or canal. During regular hours of operation, the park also hosts three adjacent fire pits and a concessions stand.
