Start Turkey Day with a 5K:
Parker Parks and Recreation hosts the Turkey Day 5K FUN Run/Walk with RNK Running & Walking on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, Nov. 28.
The family-friendly race begins at 8 a.m. at the Parker Recreation Center. This non-sanctioned event is unofficially timed, however all participants will receive a commemorative event item and be entered for a chance to win prizes. Strollers are welcome, but for safety reasons, please leave dogs, bikes and scooters at home.
Online registration continues through Nov. 26 at noon and can be completed on the Turkey Day 5K FUN Run/Walk website.
Welcome the holiday season at the Mayor’s Holiday Lighting:
Be there when O’Brien Park and downtown Parker are illuminated for the Christmas season at the Mayor’s Holiday Lighting presented by Xfinity and Ent Credit Union. Festivities take place from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 29.
Following the lighting, take in the sights and sounds of the decorated park with ice sculptures — plus a live ice sculpting demonstration this year — appearances from special seasonal characters including Santa and Mrs. Claus, and performances from the Parker Chorale, local high school choirs and The Colorado School of Dance.
The Parker Ice Trail at Discovery Park also opens for another season of skating Friday, Nov. 29 in conjunction with the Mayor’s Holiday Lighting activities.
Seasonal volunteer opportunities available:
Round out 2019 by giving back to your community at one of several upcoming Town-sponsored events. Volunteer opportunities for the Turkey Day 5K FUN Run/Walk, the Christmas Carriage Parade presented by Xfinity and more are currently posted on the Town of Parker’s Volunteer Connect Douglas County page.

Shop local on Small Business Saturday (and all year long):
Small Business Saturday (Nov. 30) is a day to patronize local and independent businesses and Parker has plenty of options to choose from. Find a list of Parker establishments to support on the Town Business Directory and get to know these local entrepreneurs on the Made in Parker blog.

Monthly public meetings:
Parker Town Council will meet at 7 p.m. Mondays Nov. 4 and 18 in the Council Chambers at Town Hall, 20120 E. Mainstreet. The Council will hold a study session at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 12 in the Pikes Peak Community Room at Town Hall.
The Parker Planning Commission will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 14 in the Council Chambers at Town Hall.
The Parker Special Licensing Authority will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 21 in the Council Chambers at Town Hall.
