The Town of Parker is excited to announce the introduction of a new program that will give our community's youth a way to get more involved with their hometown government.

The Parker Town Council officially approved creation of the Parker Youth Commission at its May 16 meeting. This commission will provide an opportunity for students to learn more about their local government, participate in the process, and represent and articulate the needs of our community's young citizens.

The Youth Commission will be comprised of nine members who are appointed to two-year terms. While preference will be given to Parker residents, any Douglas County student in grades 9 through 12 with strong ties to Parker (attend school, work, etc.) will also be considered for membership.

Among the duties that commission members will perform include:

  • Making recommendations to the Mayor and Town Council on matters affecting youth in Parker and identifying opportunities to increase youth participation and involvement in local government.
  • Serving their peers by informing local leaders of the needs and wishes of young residents; planning and implementing youth activities and recognition programs; and organizing and performing service projects.

Learn more and apply for the Youth Commission by Aug. 19, by clicking here.
