Keep up with Parker news and happenings with our list of five things to know for July.

Stars & Stripes Celebration Returns July 4:

The Town of Parker is excited to bring back our full-scale Independence Day event — the Parker Stars & Stripes Celebration Presented by Xfinity. Save the date for a July 4 evening packed with family fun!

The event is free to attend and will be held from 6 to 10 p.m. at Salisbury Park. Parking lots will open at 5 p.m. and parking is $10 per vehicle, cash only, with no in-and-out parking. Attendees may also walk to the park or utilize a free bicycle corral at the NE corner of park near Field 4.

Free activities include a concert of 80s hits from 6 Million Dollar Band, walk-around entertainers and carnival with prizes. Low-cost activities include a tot train, face painting, bungee jumping and a variety of food vendors.

In place of fireworks, this year’s celebration will conclude with a new and innovative drone light show. The 12-minute aerial display will feature multiple designs and choreographed movements from a fleet of 150 drones set to patriotic music. Drones will be visible from up to two miles away from the event, depending on vantage point. Please note, the optimal viewing experience will be from Salisbury Park at the event.

For complete event information, visit the Stars & Stripes Celebration webpage.

Kids’ TRY-Athlon July 16:

Hey, kids, give it a TRY! Parker Parks and Recreation presents the Kids’ TRY-athlon with Advanced Pediatric Associates on Saturday, July 16 beginning at 6:30 a.m. at H2O’Brien Pool.

Children ages 6 to 12 of all ability levels are invited to try their skills in three events: swimming, biking and running. This event is geared toward fun, not competition, so it is a great confidence booster for any kid.

The pre-registration fee for this event, which closes July 15 at noon, is $35 and includes a T-shirt, race bib, finisher medal and post-event refreshment. Register on the event website.

Stop by the Town’s Farmers Market Booth:

Meet and chat with Town of Parker elected officials and staff at two Parker Farmers Market events this summer. The Town will have booths at the Sunday, July 17 and Aug. 21 markets from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. near The Schoolhouse on Mainstreet.

These events give our residents a fun and informal chance to connect with Town officials and staff. You can ask questions, voice concerns or just meet some of the people who help keep Parker a great place to live, work and play. Plus, you can even pick up some fun giveaways.

We look forward to seeing you at the Parker Farmers Market!

Enroll in the Parker Civic Academy:

Registration opens July 1 for the 2022 Parker Civic Academy.

Learn more about your local government and Town operations by participating in the Parker Civic Academy!

Civic Academy participants will gain information about Town departments and services through a series of presentations, tours, hands-on demonstrations and other activities. Opportunities for further engagement will also be explored. Anyone interested in public service or who just wants to know more about the services their local government provides are welcome to participate.

This 12-week academy will be held Wednesday nights, Aug. 31 through Nov. 21, from 6 to 8 p.m. at various Town facilities. Click here to complete an application.

Parker Town Council will meet at 7 p.m. Mondays, July 11 and 18. The Council will hold study sessions at 5 p.m. Mondays July 18 and 25.
