You’ve officially got 92 days of summer (give or take an unofficial week or two starting with Memorial Day Weekend) — so just how are you going to use them? Allow us to offer a few suggestions for planning the ultimate summer right here in the Town of Parker.

Make A Splash: H2O’Brien Pool, Parker Parks and Recreation’s premiere outdoor summer facility, is the place to swim and slide with two 182' water slides, a waterworks play structure, a spray garden, sprays and geysers, a circulation and lap pool, a concession area and a shade pavilion. Daily swim hours at 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. with extended 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. hours on Fridays. Season and daily admission passes are available.
During the summer months, the Discovery Park Play Fountain is a fun spot for all ages. The approximately 900 square foot water feature includes programmable water jets embedded below the paving surface and color changing LED lights, allowing use during the day or on a warm evening. The Discovery Park Play Fountain hours are 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily, with the exception of special events.
And don’t forget the year-round indoor pool at the Parker Recreation Center. The facility includes a lap pool with shallow end, activity pool with zero-depth entry, lazy river, water slide, aquatic climbing wall, play structure and a therapy pool.

Enjoy the Sounds of Summer: Returning for the second season, the free Discovery Park Summer Concert Series brings a new band to the Discovery Park amphitheater each Thursday from June 14 through August 2. Feel free to bring your picnic baskets, lawn chairs and beach blankets to enjoy the open green space and free live music organized by Parker Arts. This space is open to patrons of all ages. Food trucks will be on-site during the concerts. Due to its open-space design, no alcoholic beverages are allowed.
And if you’re looking for more live entertainment, the Parker Arts calendar is full of other shows, concerts, performances, classes and lectures to enjoy.

Get Festive: Parker loves a good celebration. Beginning with the Parker Area Chamber of Commerce’s Parker Days Festival, and continuing through the Town’s Parker Stars and Stripes Celebration, Parker Arts’ Honey Festival and Parker Brewfest presented by the Cherry Creek Valley Rotary Club of Parker, there is always a major event right around the corner.

Visit the Market: Among the metro’s largest and most recognized, the Parker Farmer’s Market lines Mainstreet from 8 to 1 p.m. on Sundays May through October. There you’ll find home-grown produce, fresh-baked treats and other items for sale from more than 70 vendors.

Keep Active: Summer is peak season for Parker Parks and Recreation events. Take part in one or each of the Cattle Crossing 5K & Family Fun Trek, Kids’ TRY-athlon or So Long to Summer 5K/10K. Your four-legged family members can get in on the fun, too, during Barker Days that closes out the H2O’Brien season.
Bike to Work Day is another option for those who prefer to travel on two wheels. The Town hosts a breakfast station in conjunction with the Denver Regional Council of Governments tradition each June.

Partake in a Signature Summer Event: If you’re looking for even more ways to fill your calendar, consider Movies in the Park or the Downtown Wine Walks organized by the Parker Area Chamber of Commerce, the Downtown Business Alliance’s First Friday Art Walks, Parker Police Department’s National Night Out or join the Parker Artist Guild for Art in the Park.

Go to Camp: Day camps provided by Parker Parks and Recreation and Parker Arts are the perfect way to play, explore and learn while school is out of session. Programs vary throughout the summer and more information can be found at the Parks and Recreation Day Camp and Parker Arts Summer Break Camps websites.

Get Out and Play: Spend time outside at one of the many public parks or 30-plus miles of trails maintained by Parker Parks and Recreation.
