Get a jump start on your July plans with our list of five things to know for the month ahead.
Parker Stars and Stripes Celebration July 4:
Help honor the birth of our nation right here in the Town of Parker with the annual Parker Stars and Stripes Celebration presented by Ent Credit Union on July 4 at Salisbury Equestrian Park and Sports Complex.
Parking lots ($10 cash only per vehicle) open at 3 p.m. for the event which takes place from 6 to 10 p.m. Kids and parents alike may enjoy complimentary bounce houses, slides, games, balloon twisting and the new wacky world inflatables. Older kids and adults who are young at heart can try the big slide, Jacob's Ladder, Sports Mania or test their skills on the climbing wall! Face painting and a tot train will also be available for a small fee. New this year, a mobile zip line will also be available for only $5 a ride.
Live music takes place from 6 to 9:15 p.m. and the evening concludes with an awesome fireworks display, beginning at 9:30 p.m. As you enjoy a wonderful evening of entertainment you can also indulge in fantastic local fare from a number of on-site food trucks.
For the first time, the Town of Parker will open three of the Salisbury Park baseball fields for seating at the event. The ball fields will provide additional seating areas for attendees. Learn more about the VIP Field, Armed Forces Field and General Admission Field here. Remaining park grounds will be kept open to the general public for seating as in previous years.

Sister Act comes to PACE Center:
Presented by Parker Arts and Inspire Creative, Sister Act is an uplifting musical filled with toe-tapping songs, outrageous show-stopping dancing and a tribute to the universal power of friendship. Thirteen performances are scheduled at the PACE Center between Friday, July 20 and Sunday, Aug. 5.

Kids’ TRY-athlon July 21:
This Parker Parks and Recreation event is about fun over competition, in which boys and girls show their skills across three events — swimming, biking and running. This year’s Kids’ TRY-athlon with Advanced Pediatric Associates takes place July 21 at the Parker Recreation Center. Competitors take to the trails and pool in three age categories; 6 to 8 years, 9 to 10 years and 11 to 12 years.

Choose Parker campaign continues:
In conjunction with Mayor Mike Waid’s annual Mayor’s Challenge, the Town of Parker launched the Choose Parker campaign in May to promote the impact that shopping local has on Town services and programs, as well as highlight Parker’s distinct business community.
As part of the campaign, a new centralized Choose Parker webpage has been added to the Town’s website, and a rebranded Made in Parker business spotlight program has begun recognizing businesses and entrepreneurs who create and operate within Parker. A new Made in Parker spotlight is shared every Tuesday on our website and on our social media accounts.

Monthly public meetings:
Parker Town Council will meet at 7 p.m. Mondays, July 2 and 16 in the Council Chambers at Town Hall, 20120 E. Mainstreet. The Council will hold study sessions at 5:30 p.m. Mondays July 9 and 23 in the Pikes Peak Community Room at Town Hall.
The Parker Planning Commission will hold meetings at 7 p.m. Thursdays, July 12 and 26 in the Council Chambers at Town Hall.
The Parker Special Licensing Authority will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday, July 19 in the Council Chambers at Town Hall.
