Roadway Capital Improvement Projects

Cottonwood Drive Widening

(Work consists of widening Cottonwood Drive between Jordan Road and Cottonwood Way intersections)

Design work has been completed and the Town is proceeding with acquisition of needed temporary construction easements for the project.  Funding for the project is anticipated to be completed in the third quarter of 2020 andthe Town is planning to move forward with competitive bidding in the summer toallow for a potential Town Council award in early-fall of 2020. 

Parker Road Sidewalk Project - South

(Work consists of installation of a multi-use trail/sidewalk on the west side of Parker Road between the Twenty Mile Road intersection to the Hess Road intersection with a spur to the Cherry Creek Trail)

Design onthis project has commenced and the Town has received tentative approval forpartial State multi-modal funding for this project.  An intergovernmental agreement (IGA) isanticipated to be reviewed by Town Council in the summer/fall of 2020 tosolidify State funding to allow for construction in 2021.

Summerset Lane Extension Project

(Work consists of extending Summerset Lane east of Pine Drive)

Construction of the roadway project is complete. Installation of the proposed traffic signal at the Pine Drive/Summerset Lane intersection is pending the outcome of a Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) warrant analysis.

Motsenbocker Road Widening

(Work consists of widening Motsenbocker Road from the Clarke Farms subdivision to the Todd Drive intersection)

The roadwayproject is complete. The Town has contracted for the irrigation/landscaping ofthe two (2) medians with construction and this median work is complete.  The shoulder landscapingrestoration/installation is currently underway with the appropriate adjacentdevelopments for completion by the fall of 2020.

Kings Point Way

(Work consists of construction of Kings Point Way between Cottonwood Drive and proposed Aurora Parkway)

Kings PointWay is a proposed collector roadway on the east side of Parker Road (StateHighway 83) between Cottonwood Drive and proposed Aurora Parkway (located inArapahoe County).  Following a wintershutdown, project construction has resumed with the project anticipated to besubstantially completed by the end of July. The roadway will remain closed until adjacent development occurs.

North Parker Road Operational Improvements

(Work consists of traffic and multi-modal operational improvements on Parker Road (State Highway 83) between Lincoln Avenue and E-470)

Design on the project has commenced.  

Hess Road/Country Meadows Commercial Traffic Signal

(Work consists of installation of a mast arm traffic signal at the Hess Road/Country Meadows commercial access located west of Parker Road)

The project is complete.

Chambers Road/Grasslands Drive Traffic Signal

(Work consists of installation of a mast arm traffic signal at the Chambers Road/Grasslands Dr. intersection)

The project has been competitively bid and awarded.  Construction is anticipated to commence in the spring of 2020 and be completed in late-summer of 2020.

Jordan Road/Cottonwood Subdivision Mid-Block Pedestrian Crossing

(Work consists of installation of a mast arm pedestrian beacon/traffic signal on Jordan Road between the Sandreed Circle and Apache Plume Drive intersections)

Design onthe project is complete and the project has been competitively bid.  Town Council is scheduled to review thepotential award of the project at their July 20, 2020 Town Council meeting.  Assuming that the construction contract isawarded, it is anticipated that the construction will be complete by the end of2020.

Motsenbocker/Hess Intersection Improvements

(Works consists of improvements at the Motsenbocker/Hess intersection and widening south)

Design on the project has commenced. Construction is anticipated in 2020 pending right-of-way/easement acquisitions needed for the project.

Southwest Parker Road/Mainstreet Improvements

(Work consists of turn lane widening at the southwest corner of Parker Road/Mainstreet)

Design on the project has commenced. Construction is anticipated in 2020 pending right-of-way/easement acquisitions needed for the project.

Parker Road Responsive Signal System Improvements

(Work consists of infrastructure improvements needed to implement responsive signal timing on Parker Road)

Phase 1& Phase 2 of the vehicle counting infrastructure are substantially completewith responsive traffic signal operations in use on Parker Road.


Annual Maintenance Projects

Townwide Concrete Repair - 2020

(Work consists of miscellaneous sidewalk, concrete pavement and curb & gutter repairs throughout the Town)

The 2020 scope of work is anticipated to be competitively bid in March and awarded by Town Council award in April.  The 2020 Townwide concrete will be awarded April 20, 2020 to Stone & Concrete.  Work is expected to commence May 15, 2020. 

Townwide Diamond Grind and Joint Seal Program - 2020

(Work consists of diamond grinding and joint sealing of the Hilltop Road concrete pavement from Parker Road to Narrow Pine Parkway)

The project has been cancelled, will be reevaluated for 2021.

Roadway Resurfacing Program – 2020

(Work consists of roto-milling and resurfacing Dransfeldt Rd and Crown Crest blvd)

The 2020 scope of work was awarded to Aggregate Industries on January 21st.  The resurfacing of Crown Crest Blvd is scheduled to begin on June 15, 2020 and Dransfeldt Rd on July 15, 2020.

Townwide Slurry/Chip - 2020

(Work consists of slurry seal and chip seal on local, collector, and arterial streets throughout Town)

The 2020scope of work was awarded to Vance Brothers Inc on January 21st. Slurry seal of Local streets is scheduled to begin on May 18, 2020 andchip seal of collector and arterial streets is scheduled to begin June 02,2020.


Stormwater Capital Improvement Projects

Cherry Creek at KOA

(Work consists of channel and bank stabilization between McCabe Meadows Trailhead Parking lot and Twenty Mile Road extended)

This project is currently in design with permitting and construction projected in the first quarter of 2020 and construction projected in the fourth quarter of 2020.

Lemon Gulch at Meadowlark

(Work consists of channel and bank stabilization from Crowfoot Valley Road to the Meadowlark property boundary approximately 1,500 feet east)

This project is currently under construction with substantial completion anticipated by the third quarter of 2020.

Lemon Gulch at Looking Glass

(Work consists of channel and bank stabilization from the Looking Glass property boundary west of Crowfoot Valley Road to a point along Lemon Gulch approximately 4,000 feet southwest)

This project is currently in design with permitting projected in the second quarter of 2020 and construction projected in the fourth quarter of 2020.

Brandy Gulch at Looking Glass

(Work consists of channel and bank stabilization from the confluence point with Lemon Gulch to a point along Brandy Gulch approximately 2,700 feet west)

This project is currently approved with construction projected in the second quarter of 2020.

Green Acres Tributary at Compark Village South

(Work consists of channel and bank stabilization from a Culvert under E-470 to a point along Green Acres Tributary approximately 4,200 feet southwest)

This project is currently approved with construction projected in the second to third quarter of 2020.

Oak Gulch at Anthology North

(Work consists of channel and bank stabilization from the confluence point with Lemon Gulch to a point along Brandy Gulch approximately 2,700 feet west)

This project is currently in design with permitting and construction projected in the first quarter of 2021.

Facility Capital Improvement Projects

Parker Schoolhouse Plaza and Parking Lot Project

(Project consists of renovating the parking lot area between the Schoolhouse and Ruth Chapel into an interactive plaza and reconfiguring and reconstructing the south parking lot)

The project is substantially complete.

H2O’Brien Pool and Building Renovation Project

(Project consists of renovating select aquatic features and equipment and improving the functionality and flow of the facility)

This project is substantially complete.


Recreation Improvements

Auburn Hills Park Project

(Project consists of completing and integrating the 11-acre park that is currently bisected by the undeveloped 210-foot-wide Public Service Company corridor/ROW)

Constructionis underway with anticipated completion of the north field in late July 2020and south area in late September 2020.

Jordan Road Under-Crossing Project

(Project consists of constructing an under-crossing along the East-West Regional Trail at Jordan Road)

Design is underway with construction anticipated in 2021 pending approval of the budget.
